| The Band is a friendly 2nd Section Contesting and Performing Brass Band that is getting better and better all the time. The senior band has a variety of players of different ages and playing abilities. Our youngest senior band member is 10 and our oldest is.....retired from work (we'll leave it at that). There is also a Youth Band with players as young as 7 years old who hope one day to make it to the senior band. Both the bands practice on a Thursday Night at Cyprus Halls in Burgess Hill (near the cinema). The Youth band starts at 7:00pm and the adults run 8:00pm to 10:00pm...and then some of them like to search for local refreshment....and chat about the practice etc. The Band plays at concerts throughout the year and have played as far field as Horsham, Hever Castle, Tonbridge Wells and Brighton, as well as supporting local fetes and concerts. The Band enjoys (nervously) contesting under the brilliant directorship of our MD. I can safely say that 'Mid Sussex Brass Band is Probably the Fastest Improving Band in the South' as a result of our MD's influence. |
