YOUTH BAND
Mid Sussex Brass Band has a thriving Youth Band which meets every Thursday at Cyprus Hall, Burgess Hill from 7:00pm onwards.

The main group play as an ensemble, whilst new recruits and learners are taken aside by our volunteer teachers to be given tuition.

The main ensemble plays from 7:00pm to 8:00pm and we encourage youngsters to stay later to either play or listen to the Senior band rehearsal that follows.

Novices and Learners get as near one to one tuition as possible from 7:00 to 7:30 or 7:30 to 8:00pm (one teacher to 2 or 3 students is the norm though).

You can't get much for £1 these days, but you can in our band. Just £1 per week gets you a Brass instrument on loan and tuition (through teachers and/or ensemble playing).

All we ask for in exchange is that you show enthusiasm to practice and improve your playing, that you take great care of the instrument and that you listen during classes.

Ideally we like to take on new players who have some music reading ability, but novices will be asked to use the 'Tune A Day' series of books through which music reading can be taught (NOTE: we do not supply music tuition books or music stands)

It can be really great fun! Our talented Youth Band are taking great enjoyment from winning prizes at local competitions - Check the Ringmer Contest Results and Photos out

Parents must stay with their children if they are aged 8 years or under. Two adults are always present in the classroom during teaching for all other students. The full Mid Sussex Youth Band Child Protection Policy can be found if you click HERE (Acrobat Reader required).
